How to choose a suitable UPS unit

Choosing a suitable UPS unit is important if your expectations of run-time are to be met.  There are several ways you can go about it:

You can use our new UPS selector to help choose a suitable UPS.  Click here to try the Look-UPS system. RECOMMENDED

You can now display a comparison table for all the office UPS units.  The Look-UPS UPS Comparison Table is available here: Click Here to display the complete UPS comparison matrix RECOMMENDED

You can use APC's Configuration Aid to work out the best UPS for your requirement.  You enter details about your system and it will suggest several options that you can then review in the Purchasing Catalogue.  The APC Configuration Aid link is on the About APC page here.

You can find out the run times for specific UPS units under various loads using the APC Run-Time Tables link on the About APC page here.

You can review specific UPS models in the Purchasing Catalogue by clicking on the appropriate link on the right of the UPS page here.  Each device has a picture, a price and a link to further technical information, and has a description in the following format:

(^ What all these numbers mean)

Some UPS units have optional extended run-time battery packs that can be added either at purchase time or subsequently to increase the run-time.  These will be seen in the pull-down options lists for the UPS units concerned (in the Purchasing Catalogue), or can be ordered separately here.

If you are still unsure, then e-mail us or contact our sales line on 0870 444 6544.

Once you have chosen and purchased an APC UPS system (hopefully from us!), here's a really useful hint:  Before you install the unit, copy the product and serial numbers from the bar-code label on the rear of the unit onto a sticky label, and stick it on the front.  Once the UPS is installed, getting to the rear label can be a complete pain.  If the battery needs replacing or the unit needs maintenance (hopefully not for many years), you have the numbers to hand.
