SuperStack II Routers The SuperStack II Router 400 enables medium-size enterprises to provide secure, reliable connections to mobile users, branch sites, and business partners. The SuperStack II Router 400 series delivers high performance Virtual Private Networking (VPN) and multiprotocol data routing capabilities in a single platform, providing maximum flexibility for the networking needs of today's medium-size enterprises. It offers one scalable solution for multiple connectivity needs: secure remote access for mobile users and telecommuters, secure site-to-site connectivity, multiprotocol routing, and a simple software migration path from legacy data networks to more cost-effective VPNs. A built-in hardware assist encryption chip offers unmatched 30 Mbps throughput using 3DES and supports up to 256 simultaneous site-to-site and client-to-site secure IP tunnels using standards-based tunnelling technology. VPN technology can also be used to establish secure extranets for more efficient data exchange with business partners, without compromising network security. The SuperStack II Router 400 is powered by 3Com's time-tested Enterprise OS software, which supports bridging and full multiprotocol routing (IP, IPX, and AppleTalk), and includes the features necessary to support traditional site-to-site connectivity such as Frame Relay, leased line, and X.21. Plus, it provides features to ensure network resiliency such as a firewall and disaster recovery, including dial-on-demand, bandwidth-on-demand, and Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol.
